Following a comfortable maiden win, Arazan ran away with the Group Two Futurity Stakes run at the Curragh over seven-furlongs. Three weeks later, he returned to the same track for the Group One National Stakes, run over the same distance. However, on this occasion he seemed to be beaten fair and square by Mastercraftsman and Shaweel. A half-brother to Azamour, he is by Anabaa whose Group One successes came at six and seven-furlongs. One would assume he would be most effective from a mile to ten-furlongs. Although Azamour won over a mile and half, he did not attempt the distance until his four-year-old season.
