Mick Channon’s Lahaleeb won the Fred Darling at Newbury on her seasonal reappearance. As game a filly as she is, she will have her work cut out if Rainbow View, Serious Attitude, and Cuis Ghaire arrive with their “A” game. Good to soft or softer ground would enhance her chances.

Sariska and Leocorno have both improved over the winter

Two Newmarket fillies that have possibilities if going the right way are Michael Bell’s Sariska and Sit Michael Stoute’s Leocorno. Both have improved over the winter and promise to stay the Oaks trip. The upcoming trials will reveal the extent of their respective ability.

Barry Hills has supplemented impressive Free Handicap winner Ouqba for the 2000 Guineas. He won easily that day and is now officially rated on 112. He should stay the mile easily if his breeding is anything to go by and has to be considered in the final analysis. Hills has a likely candidate for the 1000 Guineas in the shape of Ghanaati. She won her maiden with ease and the runner-up has won since. Reported to have progressed over the winter, she is certainly bred for the job.

Luca Cumani’s Fantasia ran out an impressive winner at Newmarket’s Craven meeting. She now heads to Paris for the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas), with a slight doubt about the Oaks trip she may well return for the ten-furlong Prix De Diane (French Oaks).

Godolphin have taken charge of Ashram who won the Group Three Somerville Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket before running a fair race from an outside draw in the Dewhurst. Shaweel is also with Godolphin. However, he disappointed when fifth to Vocalised in the Greenham. Others to consider are Kite Wood, winner of the Autumn Stakes at Ascot. Now with Godolphin, the form has been devalued by disappointing efforts from Tameer and Four Winds.
