Another son of the legendary Sadler's Wells, sire of countless Group 1 winners including Epsom Derby winners Galileo and High Chaparral. Doctor Fremantle’s dam Summer Breeze won over a mile as a two-year-old and showed she stayed middle distance at three-years. She is a full-sister to top-class stayers Raintrap and Sunshack.

Doctor Freemantle has had five races. Three last season and two in 2008. Following two runner-up spots in maidens at Leicester and Salisbury, he came good at the third time of asking. Sent to Nottingham for a one-mile event, he took the lead three-furlongs from home. Powering clear, he came home five-lengths clear of his field. The second, third, and fourth horses have all won this season.

The Doctor has been showing enough at home to justify supplementing him

Reappearing at Newmarket this April in a hot handicap, he went down by a neck to the fast-improving Bronze Cannon. That fellow has gone on to win again at Headquarters. Doctor Freemantle made his next start in the Chester Vase. Having missed the break he soon joined in the fun, racing with zest in the middle of the pack. Quickening to lead a furlong from home, he ran on well in the closing stages and was always holding the runner-up All The Aces. The pair pulled five lengths clear of the useful Pampas Cat in the closing stages. Using the third home as a guide; one can suggest he is ahead of Tajaweed on form shown this season.

Entered in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Irish Derby, Doctor Freemantle would need to be supplemented for the English version. His owner, Prince Khalid Abdullah is without a runner at present; the “Doctor” has been showing enough at home since Chester, to suggest he may well represent him at Epsom.
