Dark horses to follow

Our Newmarket WORKWATCHER has highlighted some Dark Horses of potential that should pay to follow in forthcoming weeks.

Michael Jarvis has a large string under his control this spring and his two yards are filled with some quality animals. I particularly like the filly Folk Opera who had one race at Lingfield last year and is held in some regard. A maiden should be well within her grasp. From the same handler watch out for Raqueen. This daughter of Green Desert should pay to follow.

Jeremy Noseda had a very good year in 2006 with the likes of Sixties Icon and Araafa flying the flag for the yard. His talented filly Sander Camillo will be heading for the Guineas if all is well and she looks to have done well over the winter. Dark Horses from the yard are the unraced Purple Emperor and the talented Rahiyab who should get to the winners enclosure.

Clive Brittain, one of our senior handlers looks in shape for a good season, and you can expect the filly Undertone to be above average. She created a favourable impression when landing the spoils at Yarmouth last October. Keep an eye out for Penang from the same yard.

Henry Cecil is back on track after a quiet time. However no one can take away the man’s ability, and the several times champion trainer has around ninety inmates at Warren Place for the forthcoming campaign. I particularly like the look of Walking Talking who runs in the famous Abdulla colours. He should lose his maiden tag following a more than encouraging debut at HQ last October. Another to note from Warren Place is Brisk Breeze, a well regarded filly.

Marco Botti is well worth a mention here, as he is developing into a more than capable handler. His recent move to Green Ridge highlights his progress and with around forty horses this year he should go very well. Sesmen should carry the colours for the Italian handler.

John Gosden is commencing his second season back with us at Newmarket and has a full yard. I really like the Sadler’s Wells filly Set The Scene, Thinking Positive by Rainbow Quest and Teebee. These are Dark Horses of potential.

Sir Michael Stoute our Champion Trainer is again well represented and I must mention Al Tharib, Stand Guard, and Eternal Path at this stage.

With the scene set for a cracking 2007 Flat season we will endeavour to keep our customers well informed so please keep in touch with thesite for future updates from our workwatcher…
