JULY FESTIVAL A MUSTFiled on 10 Jul 2007 @ 06:39
The Newmarket July Festival is a must for serious racegoers and this beautiful summer track, a favourite of mine alongside Deauville and Goodwood, will be well attended as usual on Wedneday through till Friday. The revamped course will be officially opened at noon on Wednesday. On to Racing Matters WednesdayIn the 2.00pm have a good each way bet on Nosedas EXPRESS WISH. This free running sort has gone well since winning at Haydock last time and whilst many onlookers thought he only scraped home, he in fact did very well to win a race where the form is standing up well. The 6 furlongs here will be right up his street, and expect him to be ridden prominantly of a low weight. Noseda could win The Cherry Hinton with FRANCESCA D'GORGIO who showed her true ability at Ascot after bemusing connections at Nottingham first time out. Horses make fools of us at times and this certainly was the case at Nottingham, but since that set back, she has gone the right way, and can take the fillies race for the second year running for the Shalfleet handler A horse we have followed in this column bears mention in the last on Wednesday. NETWORKER has thrived this season and is possibly one of the most improved horses in training. He is taking his races well and Charlie Mc Bride still has him in top form. He could pay small each way support with Bewicks claim giving him a fly weight. ThursdayChapple Hyam should be on the mark with WINKER WATSON in the July Stakes. The 2 year old has done nothing wrong to date and will be hard to beat. It may well be that Chapple will also intoduce a grand sort in AMAAKIN today who will be ridden by Dettori. This colt is a dark horse for the future. SIXTIES ICON should take all the beating in the 3.10. Recent home work has been exceptional. FridayJames Fanshawe could be in the winners' enclosure with ARTIMINO in the 1.30. The horse was heavily supported at Royal Ascot and ran with great credit. Expect a big run today. Workwatcher
