Weekend preview - memories of Windsor.

A feast of racing awaits us this weekend with meetings everywhere, but like most feasts it is best to choose the tasty delicacies hidden away.

At Lingfield on Friday we should look closely at Noseda's Shevchenko set to run in the 3.00. Judged by recent gallops he will be hard to beat. Another gem appears on the same Lingfield card when Mias Boy runs in the 5.30 race. This colt is shining at home and is a favourite of his trainer Peter Chapple Hyam.

On to Saturday where on the Sussex Downs I would like to see Ed Dunlop's progressive gelding King Charles take his chance in 4.15 at Goodwood. He is expected to win races this season and must go close here.

I love those Monday Windsor meetings especially the evenings. I can remember visiting the track with a certain trainer friend a few years ago, who ran a horse with no form whatsoever. I remember the evening well, because the film crew and cast of that racy series 'Trainer' were swarming all over the place,it helped our own little plot, because we managed to get our money on the horse with no form - which duly obliged at a much shorter price than the opening show of 33/1 on the boards. I was the victim of some severe abuse from those bookmakers that evening when I went to pick up; but it was all good banter. I remember getting into the car and shovelling out the money to the delight of my associate who just quipped 'West End' next stop sir!

I dont expect a coup like that but will be dissapointed if Henry Cecil's progressive colt Phoenix Tower does not win the conditions race which is the 4.20 on the card on Monday.
