Dual Derby winner Australia was "just ready for a raceourse gallop" according to Aidan O'Brien, before heading here instead to successfully drop to 10f in accomplished fashion. Bred by Lord Derby, he is a son of dual Horse of the Year and Oaks winner Ouija Board, who has produced three previous winners. Australia is the first of her offspring to be sold as a yearling at auction, fetching 525,000 gns at Tattersalls in 2012. Ouija Board herself is a half sister to the Listed-placed winner Star Selection and to the useful hurdler spectrometer, out of a winning sister to Arlington Million winner and champion Teleprompter and half sister to the dam of Group One winners Ibn Bey and Roseate Tern.

This is the second black type win for the progressive Postponed, who won the Listed Glasgow Stakes last time, having placed third in both the Group Three Craven Stakes and Tercentenary Stakes. A 360,000 gns Tattersalls yearling purchase, he is the first winner out of Ever Rigg, a half sister to four winners (including the Listed-placed Bite Of The Cherry and Pietra Dura - who is also the dam of Grade Three winner Turning Top), out of Group One Moyglare winner Bianca Nera. She in turn is a half sister to Moyglare second Hotelgeniedotcom, the dam of Group One Fillies' Mile and Falmouth winner Simply Perfect as well as Crackling, the dam of Listed winner Ronaldsay and granddam of Jersey winner Gale Force Ten.
Postponed is one of 12 stakes winners this season for Dubawi, who is again showing his versatility as to distance, with Group winners from 6f (Arabian Queen in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes) through a mile (Night Of Thunder in the 2000 Guineas) to Red Dubawi and Postponed over a mile and a half.

The winner of a Goodwood maiden last time - having been second to John Gosden's Classic possible Faydhan at Haydock before that - Dutch Connection is a brother to the Listed-placed Dutch Romance out of the unraced Dubai Destination mare Endless Love, a €225,000 yearling purchase and a half sister to the Listed-placed Wittgenstein out of Listed winner La Vita E Bella, herself a half sister to dual Listed winner Bella Tusa.
Dutch Art is having a fine season, with Garswood and Slade Power both winning for him at Group One level. He now has a stakes winner from each of his first four crops, with his current two year olds covered at a career low of £5,000 - a fee that had increased to £35,000 for the 2014 season.

Precocious types in demand as clearance rate hits 92%
The second renewal of the v.2 yearling sale took place on Tuesday 19 August at Deauville and included a selection of 113 horses with a particularly precocious profile. At the end of the day, 104 of them changed hands, representing 92% of horses sold, a figure up by 17% compared to last year. The average sale price reached €36,163 compared to €27,506 last year for a total turnover of €3,761,000, showing an increase of nearly 58% compared to the 2013 v.2 sale

The third dam is a half sister to Group One winners Luso and Warrsan, out of Lucayan Princess.
Avenir Certain is the leading earner from Le Havre's first crop, which has also produced three Listed winners and 30 winners in all for a crop AEI of 4.4.

Deauville yearling sale concludes with record average
The third and final session of the Arqana August Yearling Sale took place at Deauville on Monday, with a clearance rate over 80% as 137 of the 170 yearlings who went through the ring changed hands. The turnover of €9,741,000 was up by 22% on last year, and the average sale price settled at €71,102, up by 17.34%.

Part 1 of the August Yearling Sale concludes with 7% increase in average
The second day of the Arqana August Yearling Sale on Sunday once again saw a very sustained market that resulted in 63 of the 75 yearlings offered selling, a clearance rate of 84%, up by over 10 points compared to the same session in 2013. The average sale price of €204,754 was equivalent to last year while the turnover was slightly up at €12,899,500.

Zarshana is one of seven first-crop stakes winners for Sea The Stars, a 10% strike rate, with six of those (8.3%) now Group winners. His first crop AEI is a startling 6.0.

Average rises 15% as clearance rate hits 82%
The Arqana August Yearling Sale got underway on Saturday with strong international demand that saw 65 of the 79 yearlings on offer change hands, representing a percentage of horses sold of 82%, up by 9% compared to the same day in August 2013, for an average sale price of €249,800 which was up by 15%. The turnover was up by nearly 14% at €16,237,000 while eight lots were knocked down for €500,000 or more (compared to 6 last year) and 29 for €200,000 or more.

Aggregate best since 2006 as Milan gelding tops proceedings at €80,000
The Tattersalls August NH Sale concluded its three day run on Thursday with strong trade at all levels of the market resulting in the second-best aggregate ever for the August NH Sale of €4,767,000 beaten only by 2006 when the sale was held over four days but also an exceptional clearance rate of 78%.
