A 45,000 gns Tattersalls yearling purchase in 2007, Tarooq sold for 16,000 gns at the Guineas HIT Sale at Park Paddocks in 2012. He ran up a five-timer between November 2012 and March 2013, and showed he was in good heart when beating the useful Hawkeyethenoo at Lingfield last time out. The dam, Rose Of Zollern, won the Group Two Henkel Rennen (1000 Guineas), and is out of an unraced half sister to Group One Dewhurst winner Kala Dancer.

This is the first stakes winner for Haras du Petit Tellier resident Linngari. The son of Indian Ridge has 16 career winners from 39 runners in two crops to race, and has an AEI to date of 1.0.

The second dam is a half sister to Group Two Richmond Stakes winner Dilum.
Narrow Hill becomes the sixth stakes winner from Tiger Hill's 2008 crop, a 7% strike rate.

The Goffs February Sale produced strong results in its two day run that concluded on Thursday, with Night Visit, the dam of Irish Derby winner Trading Leather, selling to Hubie De Burgh for €975,000.

Average rises 27% as Vodka Wells tops proceedings
The 20th anniversary renewal of the Arqana February Mixed Sale posted figures showing a sharp increase on Tuesday as 276 horses went through the ring with 87% of them changing hands, up by more than 15 points compared to last year. The average sale price of €10,129 went up by 27% while the turnover leapt up by 59% to €2,431,000.

Turnover rises 24% as median hits record high
Sovereign Debt, the runner up to Farhh in last season's Group One Locking Stakes, topped a buoyant Tattersalls February Sale on Thursday that saw rises across the board, the highest turnover since 2008 and a record median. A total of 172 lots were sold for 2,166,600 guineas, at an average of 12,597 guineas and a median of 6,750 guineas, figures that represented rises of 24%, 37% and 35% respectively.

New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2014 Select Sale concluded its three day run at Karaka on Friday with the turnover, average, and clearance all ahead of last year’s figures. The Sale that provided eight of the 13 Group One winners from NZB’s National Yearling Sales Series last year has seen a total of 416 horses sold, with total takings of $19,224,000 (up 11%), at an average of $46,212 (up 7%), and a clearance rate of 75%, up from 71% at the sale’s conclusion last year.

Select Sale opens with domestic buyers spurring 3.4% increase in average
The New Zealand Bloodstock Select Sale got underway on Wednesday, with competitive bidding for the 231 yearlings on offer today resulting in slight increases to all the figures compared to the first day last year. Overall, 151 lots were sold for $7,378,500, at an average of $48,864 (up 3.4%) and a median of $40,000 (up 2.6%). The clearance rate sits at 72% compared with 69% at the end of the first day last year. The figures were buoyed by domestic demand. The Premier Sale had seen its figures decline slightly, with the strength of the New Zealand dollar being blamed for the decline.

Aggregate declines 8.5%; Rip Van Winkle heads freshman sire list
New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2014 Premier Sale concluded its two day run at Karaka on Tuesday, where a total of 326 yearlings sold for $47,132,500, a decline of 8.5% from last year's sale, which realised $51,051,500. The clearance rate of 78%, represented an average of $144,578 - down from $158,054 in 2013 - and a median of $110,000. A near-identical number of lots sold for $200,000 or more compared with last year (80 in 2013, 81 in 2014).

Clearance rate climbs further as strong bidding continues
Sunday's fifth session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale on Sunday was topped by a beautifully bred filly by champion sire Redoute's Choice. Presented by Arrowfield Stud, the filly from stakes winner Flame of Sydney was knocked down to Prime Thoroughbred's Joe O'Neill for $280,000.

Strong sale concludes with clearance rate of 80%
Keeneland’s 56th January Horses of All Ages Sale concluded its four day run on Thursday with participation from a diverse cast of buyers driving robust trade and excellent strength at all levels of the market. Gross receipts were $41,025,700 for 1,027 horses. The average price was $39,947, and the median price was $20,000.

At last year’s sale, which covered five days, 1,105 horses sold for $45,207,300, for an average of $40,912 and a median of $15,000. The 2013 sale included the complete dispersal of prominent owner/breeder Issam Fares’ Fares Farm.
“The January Sale confirmed what we saw during last fall’s September Yearling and November Breeding Stock sales: that we are operating in a fair market,” Keeneland Vice President of Sales Walt Robertson said. “Buyers are responding to this true market with enthusiasm and confidence that they will see a return on their investments.”

An unprecedented day of selling at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale on Wednesday saw the cumulative clearance rate soar to 88.44 per cent, while the average remained ahead of last year's figures at the same stage of the auction.

Young mares in demand at January Sale
Lady Kierkegaard, a five-year-old winning daughter of Arch, sold to Fleetwood Bloodstock for $310,000 to top Wednesday’s third session of the 56th Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale as figures rose across the board. During the session, Keeneland sold 246 horses for $5,953,300, marking a 20 percent increase in gross sales from the corresponding session of the 2013 sale at which 227 horses sold for $4,953,900. The session’s average price of $24,200 rose nearly 11 percent from the $21,823 average last year, while the median of $15,000 was 15 percent higher than the average of $13,000 from 2013.

Gold Coast Yearling Sale gets underway with 10% rise in average
The Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale opened on Wednesday with two lots reaching $450,000 during a day when almost $20 million was traded. Some 137 lots were sold on the day at an average price of $141,606, up almost $13,000 on last year's corresponding opening session.

Ponche de Leona, dam of 2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Mucho Macho Man, sold for $775,000 to Brushwood Stable to top Tuesday’s session of the 56th Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale. The price is the highest amount paid during the first two days of the four-day sale.

Dam of Vyjack tops session at $750,000 as median rises
Life Happened, dam of Grade Two winner Vyjack and Grade Three winner Tepin, brought $750,000 on Monday to top the opening session of Keeneland’s 56th annual January Horses of All Ages Sale. Jason Litt of Solis/Litt Bloodstock purchased Life Happened, a 13-year-old daughter of Stravinsky in foal to Harlan’s Holiday. She was consigned by Select Sales, agent.

He is a half brother to five winners, including Baden-Baden Group Three winner Sommertag and Listed winner Sinnerman, out of Listed winner Sommernacht. The second dam, the Listed winner Shona, produced eight winners and is a daughter of the Group Two-placed Listed winner Shantou.
Sommerabend is a member of Shamardal's hugely successful first crop, which has notched 14 stakes winners at a 17% strike rate for a crop AEI of 3.4.

Tattersalls turnover for 2013 reaches 249m guineas
The Tattersalls December Sale concluded on Thursday with a solid final session and a top price of 60,000 guineas as 146 lots sold for 963,500 guineas at an average of 6,599 guineas and a median of 4,800 guineas. The four-day December Mare Sale saw significant rises across the board with turnover up 43% to 62,998,500 guineas, and the average and median up 52% and 47% to 87,377 guineas and 28,000 guineas respectively. Turnover for the December Sale, including Foals and Yearlings was up 36% to 97,989,000 guineas whilst the annual turnover at Tattersalls rose 18% to a record 248,689,200 guineas.
