Average rises 33% at third session of breeding stock sale

At the end of the third day of the Breeding Stock Sale at Deauville on Monday, the average was up by nearly 33% compared to last year at €11,444, while the median was €8,000 compared to €7,000 last year. 75.8% of the horses on offer found new homes, generating a turnover of €2,196,500, up by 19%.

Sunday's second session of the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale witnessed dynamic trade throughout the day as 227 of the 288 mares and foals to go through the ring changed hands, representing a remarkable clearance rate of nearly 79%. The average of €27,848 increased by nearly 16% compared to last year, while the turnover reached €6,321,500, also an increase of nearly 16%.

Sale consolidates 2013 gains with new record median

The Arqana Deauville Breeding Stock Sale got underway on Saturday with 158 of the 206 mares, fillies and foals on offer finding new homes at a 76.7% clearance rate. The turnover of €16,927,500 was the second highest to date for a breeding stock session. The median witnessed a remarkable increase, reaching €71,000 compared to €50,000 on the same day in 2013, reflecting a genuine strength in depth in the market. The average reached €107,136.

Tattersalls posts record annual turnover for 2014

The Tattersalls year concluded with a competitive final session of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale that saw 141 lots sold for 1,055,900 guineas at an average of 7,489 guineas and a median of 5,700 guineas. The four-day December Mare Sale saw 685 lots sell for 48,290,695 guineas, down from 62,985,000 guineas last year, at an average of 70,497 guineas (down 19% from last year's levels) and a median of 26,000 guineas, down from 28,000 guineas in 2013. The two-week December Sale as a whole saw turnover of 84,975,295 guineas. Turnover at Tattersalls for 2014 was a record 263,411,173 guineas, up 6% on last year’s record turnover.

Juddmonte draft in demand, realising 43% of the day 3 aggregate

Posset, the own-sister to the multiple Group One winner Midday was the highlight of the third day of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale when selling for 625,000 guineas. The third day saw a total of 182 lots sell for 6,773,700 guineas at an average of 37,218 guineas and a median of 20,000 guineas.

Classic-winning filly to race on after Sangster family bought out

The Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Just The Judge became the highest priced filly in British auction history when selling to Sheikh Fahad and the China Horse Club for 4,500,000 guineas. The second day saw a total of 173 lots sell for 29,188,595 guineas, down 15% from last year, at an average of 168,720 guineas - a 7% drop - and a median of 70,000 guineas.

Median stable though aggregate falls as only one lot fetches over 500,000 gns

Esentepe was the star attraction on the opening day of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale that saw 189 lots sold for 11,272,500 guineas at an average of 59,643 guineas and a median of 40,000 guineas. One lot fetched in excess of 500,000 gns, compaered with six in last year's opening session, leading to a 40% fall in aggregate. The median was stable.

Only one of three Frankel foals offered changes hands

A colt by Sea The Stars topped trade on Friday's third day of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale at 450,000 guineas on a day that saw nine lots sell for 300,000 guineas or more. A total of 195 lots were sold for a total of 16,717,000 guineas at an average of 85,728 guineas and a median of 65,000 guineas.

Aggregate rises 21%, though with 236 lots sold average rises just 3%

A filly from the first crop of Newsells Park Stud’s Natahniel sold for 300,000 guineas on the second day of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale on Thursday. Trade stepped up a level from yesterday with 236 lots selling for 8,226,200 guineas, a rise of 21% on the Thursday session last year. The average of 34,857 guineas was a rise of 3% whilst the median fell narrowly to 26,000 guineas.

Average rises 11% as December Sale foal sessions begin

The Tattersalls December Foal Sale got off to a positive start on Wednesday with rises across the board and a top price of 65,000 guineas for a colt by Bated Breath. The opening session saw 204 lots sell for 2,504,100 guineas at an average of 12,275 guineas and a median of 9,250 guineas which represented rises of 17%, 11% and 32% respectively on the corresponding session last year.

Highest price since 2006 as average rises 15%

The Lope De Vega three-parts brother to top class Australian stayer Puissance De Lune topped the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale on Monday at 325,000 guineas, the highest price at the sale since 2006 when subsequent Group One Irish Oaks winner Moonstone topped the sale. Turnover of 4,573,700 guineas for the 161 lots sold was up 28% and was the highest since 2006 whilst the average and median rose 15% and 20% to 28,408 guineas and 18,000 guineas respectively. There were also seven lots that sold for 100,000 guineas or more, the most since 2007.

Average rises 39% as six lots make six figure sums

The third session of foals to be sold at the Goffs November Sale on Wednesday saw very strong trade, with young sire Lope De Vega accounting for the top three lots. Overall, 207 lots sold at an 89% clearance rate, for an aggregate of€7,384,300, a 53% rise on last year. The average rose by 39% to €35,673 and the median was up 36% to €30,000.

Arqana's overall yearling aggregate rises 15% in 2014

The Arqana Autumn Sale concluded its three day run at Deauville on Wednesday with a session dedicated to yearlings. 125 of the 155 yearlings who went through the ring changed hands (representing a clearance rate of 81%) for an average sale price of €8,864, generating a turnover of €1,116,000.

Average rises 31% to record level of €11,971

The Goffs November Foal Sale got underway on Monday with record trade that resulted in turnover and an average. With a clearance rate of 78% for the 226 lots offered, the aggregate was up an incredible 73% over the corresponding day last year to €2,118,900, while average and median both grew by 31% to €11,971 and €8,500 respectively.

Turnover rises 24% in horses in training section

The Autumn Sale, which began with a first day dedicated to horses in training both on the flat and over jumps, posted excellent figures with a record top price of €420,000. Nearly 83% of the horses presented changed hands, a figure up by over 14 points compared to last year in the same section, while the average settled at €26,820, up by nearly 10% compared to last year. The turnover reached €4,479,000, up by nearly 24% compared to last year.
