Curlin colt tops Monday session as Trappe shot heads young sires in demand

The market continued to show strength on Monday during the seventh session of the 71st Keeneland September Yearling Sale with increases in gross, average and median prices. The 273 yearlings sold grossed $21,172,000 and represents a 6.1 percent increase over the $19,952,000 for 292 horses sold at last year’s corresponding session. The average of $77,553 was 13.5 percent higher than the $68,329 recorded in 2013, while the median rose 22.8 percent, from $57,000 to $70,000.
