Bred by Darley, Kirklees is a half brother to this year's Italian Derby winner Mastery (Sulamani) out of a winning half sister to Group Three winner Bowman. The second dam, Cherokee Rose, was a multiple Group winner for Sheikh Mohammed and John Hammond, winning the Group One Prix Maurice de Gheest and the Haydock Sprint Cup in 1995. In 2008 Jade Robbery had seven winners from 23 runners; this season he has four winners, including Listed winner ceremonail Jade, from only 12 runners thus far.

Iver Bridge Lad fetched 8,000 gns as a foal but only 1,000 gns as a yearling; he is a half-brother to a placed runner out of a winning half-sister to a number of winners. Whitsbury Manor Stud resident Avonbridge joins Le Vie dei Colori, Rock Hard Ten, Oratorio and Starcraft as a first season sire with a stakes winner to his name. The son of Averti has six winners from only 25 runners thus far and today's win moves him above Dubawi into fifth place on the first crop sires' list. Avonbridge had 48 yearlings sell last year for an average of £16,500 with a top price at the DBS St Leger Sale of £74,000.

The Arqana Summer Sale at Saint-Cloud on Thursday saw generally quiet trading boosted by the draft from the Aga Khan's Studs. Triumph Hurdle winner Zaynar was part of last year's draft from the Aga Khan, and this year he saw all 12 of his lots sell for an aggregate of €688,000 at an average of €57,333.
