Cacique (IRE)

Danehill - Hasili, by Kahyasi
Bay or brown, foaled 2001
Breeder: Juddmonte Farms
Other sons of Danehill at stud: Aussie Rules, Camacho, Catcher In The Rye, Chevalier, Clodovil, Colossus, Danbird, Danehill Dancer, Danroad, Dansili, Desert King, Dylan Thomas, Exceed And Excel, Ferrule, Gentleman's Deal, Hawkeye, Holy Roman Emperor, Indian Danehill, Ivan Denisovich, Kodiac, Leporello, Manipulator, Mountain High, Multiplex, Oratorio, Rock Of Gibraltar, Tiger Hill, Westerner, Where Or When.

Full brother to Dansili is No 1 recruit to British roster in 2007

Cacique would need nothing more than the fact that he is a full brother to Dansili to guarantee his place at stud. His illustrious brother has had a fantastic year, culminating in Rail Link’s victory in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe but backed up by such as Price Tag and Strategic Prince and a very high percentage of winners to runners.

On top of all that, Cacique is also a brother to the brilliant fillies Banks Hill and Intercontinental and the good 2006 juvenile Champs Elysees and a three-parts brother to another brilliant female in Heat Haze.

The family has also produced other major recent winners in the shape of Three Valleys, Leroidesanimaux and Uapybo, all great advertisements for the breeding empire of Khalid Abdullah.

But Cacique does not have to rely on the exploits of his siblings for his reputation: he himself was also an excellent racehorse, winning seven of his 17 starts and being placed on eight occasions. He raced for three seasons, collecting a Group 2 and Group 3 in France as a three-year-old as well as running second to Bago in the Grand Prix de Paris and to the same horse in the Prix Jean Prat, both Group 1.

At four he won again at Group 3 level and was Group 1 placed, and the following year crossed to the States to take the Group 1 Man O’War Stakes and Manhattan Handicap. He was runner up in three other top level contests and fourth in another.

Cacique, probably the number one recruit to the British stallion roster this year, retires to Banstead Manor Stud.
