New sires for 2007 | New sires for 2008 | Fee tables - all sires Jeremy (USA)Danehill Dancer - Glint In Her Eye, by Arazi Group Two winner out of a half-sister to Deep ImpactA $375,000 Keeneland foal, Jeremy took time to show his best form, which he did at four having been expertly handled by Sir Michael Stoute, a master with the improving type, as Sinspiel, Pilsudski and Notnowcato bear witness. Green on his debut at Newmarket, he tried to bite the fourth-placed horse en route to finishing second. After breaking his maiden, he was promoted to Listed company, with his first Stakes win coming at Newmarket on his second start at three. From there, he went on to win the Group Three Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, beating Asset by two lengths, before three runs over seven furlongs in Group Two company, where he improved to be beaten only half a length in the Hungerford Stakes.
Danehill Dancer is more than capable of siring horses better than himself
Group Two success came on his first start as a four-year-old, in the Betfred Mile at Sandown, where he showed he had learned to settle and had a real turn of foot. He wasn’t to win again, but put in better-rated efforts twice when finishing a short head second to Ramonti in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes, and when third to the same rival in the Sussex Stakes, again at the highest level. His form tailed off in the autumn, with unplaced runs in the Prix de la Foret and Breeders’ Cup Mile on unfavoured soft going. Jeremy is by Danehill Dancer, a dual Group One winner at two who won only once thereafter – the Greenham Stakes – in a racing career that fell well short of top class. He retired to stud in Australia and returned to Europe at a fee of IR4,000gns. Jeremy was sired at a fee of IR9,000gns, since when Danehill Dancer’s fee has climbed to €115,000 in 2008 as he has shown himself more than capable of siring horses better than himself with the likes of Where Or When, Indesatchel, Speciosa and Choisir amongst his progeny. Jeremy’s dam Glint In Her Eye is out of one of many high-class mares sent to the ultimately disappointing sire Arazi in Group One winner Wind In Her Hair, also the dam of Japanese superstar Deep Impact. She was one of the better-class mares in Danehill Dancer’s 2002 book, and Jeremy could be a foretaste of the quality to be expected from the progeny of the higher-class mares in his recent books.
