Iceman (GB)

Polar Falcon - Virtuous, by Exit To Nowhere
Bay, foaled 2002
Breeder: Cheveley Park Stud
Other sons of Polar Falcon at stud: Frenchman's Bay, Passing Glance, Pivotal, Polar Impact.

Speedy Coventry Stakes winner

Once again Cheveley Park Stud is introducing a son of Polar Falcon at a bargain price. The last time they did that the animal concerned was Pivotal, and we all know what has happened to him and his supporters.

Iceman, like Pivotal a smart juvenile, was rated 7lbs. higher than his paternal half-brother at the same age.
His victories came in a Newmarket maiden and the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, where he beat the Group 1 winners Oratorio and Goodricke; he was a close second in the Champagne Stakes, giving the winner Etlaala 5 lbs. and beating Wilko, and third in the Middle Park behind Ad Valorem. He was fourth in the Dewurst, but had such leading performers as Librettist, Perfectperformance and Etlaala behind him.

As a three-year-old he was an unlucky fourth in the Craven Stakes prior to his run in the Guineas, during which he sustained an injury which was to prevent him from ever regaining his form.

Iceman's female family is outstanding

Polar Falcon, himself a top sprinter-miler, has delivered some outstanding performers, including of course his leading sire son Pivotal, Red Camellia, Red Bloom, Shibuni’s Falcon and Sunstrach, to name but a few, while Iceman’s female family is outstanding.

His dam Virtuous was a winner and Listed placed and all her four runners to date have won. The next dam, Exclusive Virtue, by Shadeed, won at two, has bred three winners and is a half-sister to Guineas winner Entrepreneur, Coronation Stakes victress Exclusive (also by Polar Falcon) and Oaks second Dance A Dream. Iceman’s third dam was Exclusive Order, a top class sprinter, and the family is that of champion sires Hyperion, Star Way, Sickle and Pharamond.

Racehorses of 2004 described Iceman as “one of the best looking individuals among the 2004 juveniles, being a strong, good-bodied individual. He was also one of the best movers, showing a quick, fluent action.”

He retires to Cheveley Park Stud at £5,000 1st October Special Live Foal, with a strictly limited book.
