Even without a comparable racing record, Iffraaj would probably have found himself a place at stud. As a son of Zafonic out of a winning half-sister to Cape Cross and from the same immediate family as Diktat, he is an obviously attractive prospect.

But, as befits his breeding, he was a talented racehorse and an extraordinarily good looking one at that. He won and was placed in his two starts at two, but only ran once at three. From six runs at four he appeared in the winner’s enclosure on four occasions, after the Group 2 Park Stakes, where he beat Sleeping Indian and Court Masterpiece, the Wokingham, the Victoria Cup and another handicap at Kempton Park.

He was unlucky not to win the July Cup the following year, just not quite catching Les Arcs in time, but he did collect the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood and the Park Stakes at Doncaster, both Group 2. He had such horses as Assertive and Somnus behind him on those occasions.

Iffraaj has a lot to do to equal his uncle and cousin at stud, but he is most unlikely to fail.
