New sires - ProclamationFiled on 13 Jan 2007 @ 17:24
New sires for 2007 | New sires for 2008 | Fee tables - all sires Proclamation (IRE)King's Best - Shamarra, by Zayyani It was unfortunate that Proclamation joined the Godolphin operation just when things began to go wrong for them, and neither he nor his now stud companion Goodricke, who was also taken in to the team then, were able to add to their CVs. He had looked to be an outstanding prospect for more top miling honours and a great advertisement for his brilliant sire. He won his only start at two, was last on his three-year-old debut but then proceeded to win the Listed Heron Stakes, the Group 3 Jersey Stakes (at York that year) and the Group 1 Sussex Stakes on consecutive outings. His closest pursuer in the Sussex was no less that Soviet Song, so he had really arrived. That was his last visit to the winner’s enclosure, but he ran third in the Queen Anne behind Ad Valorem and Court Masterpiece in his final season. He was only fifth behind George Washington in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes; he had still finished with a 50% record from his eight starts but we surely did not see the best of him in 2006. The beautifully bred King’s Best had a good year though, and has a good tally of stakes horses to his name from just two crops to race to date. Apart from Proclamation, they include the two Classic placed colts Best Name and Best Alibi and he is well qualified to become a sire of sires. Proclamation’s dam is a half-sister to the smart Shantaroun, now at stud in Australia, and is also dam of He comes from the same family as the leading miler Sendawar, who has now sadly been outed from the Aga Khan’s Studs, and the Group winning pair Shaiybara and Sardania. If all else fails, as it does for so many horses, there are two more half-brothers to those two, Shantarini and Shankorak, who are multiple black type winners over hurdles and fences. Race record
