The Arqana Summer Sale at Saint-Cloud on Thursday saw generally quiet trading boosted by the draft from the Aga Khan's Studs. Triumph Hurdle winner Zaynar was part of last year's draft from the Aga Khan, and this year he saw all 12 of his lots sell for an aggregate of €688,000 at an average of €57,333.

Average down by 30% at two-year-olds in training sale

Hip No. 40, a filly by Maria’s Mon consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, went to Shim Racing for $130,000 to top Tuesday's opening session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2009 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. The gray or roan filly, whose eighth in :10 1/5 was co-fastest at the distance at last Saturday’s Under Tack session, is out of stakes winner Merit Wings, by Silver Hawk.

The two day Goffs Land Rover Sale was topped by a son of Shantou out of the Grade Two placed mare Sparkling Sword (Lot 33) who was sold by Stephen Lanigan O’Keeffe to Eddie O’Leary for €85,000.

Figures decline at National Weanling Sale

An outstanding filly by Stravinsky sold for $200,000 and topped the opening day of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast on Sunday, when 163 lots were sold for an aggregate of $4,012,000, a 62% decline on 2008, which was bolstered by the Swettenham Stud dispersal.

Son of Definite Article tops "tricky" sale

The DBS NH Store Sale concluded on Thursday with generally subdued trade that picked up on the second day of the sale.

The sale aggregate of £2,469,000 was down 34% from last year and the average of £14,438 saw a 20% decline. The median was £10,000, down from £14,000, and the clearance rate was 69%.

National Hunt Chase winner tops Spring HIT Sale

The 2009 DBS Spring HIT Sales on Tuesday and Wednesday saw a top price of £320,000 backed up by a 75% clearance rate. Overall, 271 lots were sold of the 362 offered, for an aggregate of £3,882,85. The average declined by 11% from last year to £14,327 and the median declined from £7,500 to £7,000.

The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic two-year-olds in training sale opened on Monday with an increase in average and a reduced buy-back rate.

The average of $47,477 was 4% up on the same session last year, whilst the buy-back rate of 27.1% was down from 34.7% last year. Overall 113 lots sold from 155 offered for an aggregate of $5,364,900, some 25.6% down on last year on a smaller catalogue.

The Goffs Dundalk Breeze Up Sale on Tuesday saw a 70% clearance rate which was topped by a son of Coolmore's first crop sire Antonius Pius (Lot 13) from Bansha House Stables. The good moving colt who is out of a half sister to Stakes winner Green Eyed Lady was sold to Norman Steel for €42,000.

Average rises by 20% at Saint-Cloud

The Arqana Breeze Up Sale held at Saint Cloud on Saturday saw strong trade as 76% of horses offered sold at an average €41,649, some 20% up on last year. The median price of €30,000 was 7% up on last year.

Average falls 26% as clearance rate hits only 53%

The third edition of the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale on Friday saw a total of 74 lots sell for 2,819,200 guineas, at an average of 38,097 guineas - a 26% decline from 2008 - and a median of 25,000 guineas, down 17%. The clearance rate was a modest 53%.

Bianconi colt tops successful sale
