Aga Khan's draft highlights Arqana Summer Sale

The Arqana Summer Sale at Saint-Cloud on Thursday saw generally quiet trading boosted by the draft from the Aga Khan's Studs. Triumph Hurdle winner Zaynar was part of last year's draft from the Aga Khan, and this year he saw all 12 of his lots sell for an aggregate of €688,000 at an average of €57,333.

Overall the sale saw 115 lots sell, 56% of those offered, for an aggregate of €2,502,000, 28% down on last year. The average was €21,757, down from €26,769 and the median dropped from €15,000 to €12,000.

The top lot was the the four-year-old Red Ransom gelding Sceptre Rouge who sold to the Mandore International Agency for €180,000.

Peak Bloodstock went to €115,000 for Darban, a three-year-old Kalanisi half-brother to Prix de Diane heroine Daryaba.

They also went to €100,000 for Zarkamar, a winning three-year-old half-brother to the dam of Zarkava.

Highflyer Bloodstock paid €100,000 for Highest Start, a twice-winning son of Highest Honor.
