A colt by Exceed And Excel topped the second session of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast today as a strong local, interstate and international buying bench competed for an outstanding selection of youngsters.

Leading Singapore trainer Michael Clements, on behalf of New Zealand based Noble Bloodstock, went to $360,000 to secure the day's highest priced horse - Lot 330.

The colt by Exceed and Excel and from the dual winning Canadian mare Miss Behave was offered at the sale by Scone based Bellerive Stud, as agent.

"He's one of the nicest horses in the sale," Clements said. "We are delighted to be able to buy him."

Clements, who bid with good friend and stable client Janven See, said he was undecided whether the colt would see another sale ring prior to his racetrack debut. "We'll just wait and work on the options - but we would be more than happy to race him. He looks a real racehorse," Clements added.

With two sessions of the three day select sale down the sale's gross was boosted to over $15.3 million at a very healthy clearance rate of over 84 per cent. The average price for the sale so far stood at a tick over $55,000.

Patinack Farm, fresh off being the leading buyer at Easter's Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Yearling Sale, again head the buyers list. The team from Patinack so far have signed for 15 lots at over $1.4 million.
