A Falvelon filly from the family of this year’s Blue Diamond winner Reaan stole the show late in the day to set a new record price of $110,000 at the annual William Inglis HTBA Scone Yearling Sale.

The filly, from the Defensive Play mare Defy Smytzer, was knocked down to Darrell Ible Bloodstock.

Defy Smytzer is a half-sister to the dam of Ribe, who produced Inglis Easter graduate Reann to win this year’s Blue Diamond.

In all, $2,151,700 was traded on 154 yearlings today at an average price of $13,972, with an excellent clearance rate of 87.5%.

Coolmore stallions Rock Of Gibraltar and Lion Heart also had progeny in keen command.

A Rock Of Gibraltar colt from the Our Poetic Prince mare Poetique was knocked down to prominent NSW country trainer Mac Griffiths for $70,000.

Rock Of Gibraltar is Australia’s leading second season sire by stakes winners this season and Poetique is already the dam of six individual winners.

Lion Heart, currently the leading freshman sire in the US, had the day’s second highest priced lot when a colt from the Marooned mare Wild Reef sold to Paul Blattman for $66,000.
