Lion Heart filly tops final session of National SaleFiled on 12 Jun 2008 @ 11:51
Australia, 12 June 2008 A filly by Lion Heart topped the third and final session of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast today. Local horsewoman Debbie Newham nabbed the filly for the General Sale record when she went to $70,000 to secure the Furlong Stud offering. Newham had to pull out all stops to edge out Deagon based horseman Shaun Dwyer in a fierce bidding battle. By Tale of the Cat's record breaking sire son Lion Heart, the youngster is the third foal from the lightly raced Secret Savings mare Under the Mattress. Under the Mattress is a full sister to Aqua Blessing - a stakes performed winner at two who won races from 900m to 1850m. Hers is also the family of star international Group One winners Kamar, Key to the Moon, Gorgeous and Swain. During today's final session of a marathon National Sale 128 yearlings changed hands at a session gross of $849,400. The average price was $6,636. Magic Millions managing director David Chester said the session, as it has on many of the other days got stronger as it went on. "It was very tough early - but buyers got into the swing of it as we went," Chester said. "The smart buyers were there again picking up some quality youngsters at great value prices." "Our international buying bench was busy again - with a number of yearlings set to head to Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines." STATISTICS Lots Sold: 128 Filed on 12 Jun 2008 @ 11:51
