Australia, 11 June 2009 The Magic Millions National Sale has concluded after two week of selling on the Gold Coast. A general session of the National Yearling Sale, where 63 lots were sold, was followed by the National Racehorse Sale, where another 23 changed hands. Both Australian and international buyers remained for today's selling at which likely young types by Canadian Silver and Zabeel topped proceedings. During the final session of the National Yearling Sale a filly by Canadian Silver was the most popular with buyers and she attracted a final bid of $32,000. Max Lang, buying under Silvertaire Lodge, signed for the attractive youngster, offered at the auction by Lyndhurst Stud Farm. Lang is hoping the filly will follow in the footsteps of another daughter of Canadian Silver he races, the Tony Noonan prepared Beaming. Also popular during the yearling section of today's selling was a colt by Star Cross who went for $30,000 to the bid of leading bloodstock agent John Foote. Andy Williams, buying under World Wide Bloodstock, secured another of the day's feature lots - a filly by Danasinga for $26,000. An unraced two-year-old by Zabeel, presented by Oakwood Farm, topped the National Racehorse Sale, and the day as a whole, when snapped up by Victorian trainer Peter Morgan for $50,000. The colt is the third living foal of the Thunder Gulch mare Thunder Hood - an unraced full sister to group one winner Shot of Thunder. His is also the family of group one winners including My Brilliant Star, Lachlan River and Sudurka. Another untried two-year-old, a colt by Charge Forward offered by Magic Millions, was purchased knocked down to Racenet Bloodstock for $35,000. Over $560,000 changed hands today during the shorter day of selling that wrapped up a successful National Sale. "It's been a big couple of weeks selling," Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said. "Taking all things into account, I am happy with how the sale went and importantly the clearance rates remained extremely strong." "To have set an all time Magic Millions record with the sale of Princess Coup for $3 million in the current climate is a great result." "Quality horses at the sale were the subject of strong interest from buyers across all sections of the sale." "The National Sale was a real Magic Millions sale - something for everyone."
