Florida, 19 June 2008 Hip No. 455, a 2-year-old Peace Rules filly consigned by Shadybrook Farm, Inc. (Michael Yates), Agent, went to Arch Bloodstock, Agent for Avalon Farm, for $250,000 to top the second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2008 June Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age. The bay filly, whose three eighths in :33 2/5 on Sunday was the sale’s co-fastest at the distance, is out of Long Gone Lady, by All Gone, and is a half sister to stakes placed Britten’s Beauty. For the session, 160 2-year-olds brought a total of $3,717,500, compared with 153 grossing $3,659,600, at the corresponding session last year. The average price was $23,234 compared with $23,919 in 2007, while the median price was $13,000 compared with $14,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 20.8%; it was 28.1% a year ago. Fifteen horses brought $50,000 or more compared with 19 last year. Fifteen older horses sold for a total of $144,000, averaging $9,600 compared with eight bringing a total of $65,800, averaging $8,225 last year. For the entire Sale, 352 2-year-olds sold for a total of $7,720,700, compared with 308 youngsters grossing $6,794,900 at last year’s June Sale. The average price was $21,934, compared with $22,061 in 2007, while the median price was $13,000 compared with $14,000 a year ago. The buyback percentage was 18.1%; it was 32.3% last year. Thirty two horses sold for $50,000 or more compared with 33 in 2007. Fourteen sold for $100,000 or more compared with nine last year. Hip No. 398, a filly by Exchange Rate consigned by Stephens Thoroughbreds, Agent for Vision Sales, LLC, was sold to Kenneth L. and Sarah K. Ramsey for $170,000. The gray or roan filly, whose eighth in :10 flat was the sale’s co-fastest at the distance, is out of Infinity, by Saint Ballado, a daughter of stakes placed Dove Shell. The Ramseys also went to $135,000 for Hip No. 349, Carla, a Sky Mesa filly consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent. The bay filly, who also drilled an eighth in :10 flat at the Under Tack Show, is out of French Line, by Boundary, and is a half sister to stakes placed Yessiremychickadee. Hip No. 476, a colt by Gulch consigned by Eisaman Equine, Agent, went to Barry Berkelhammer, Agent, for $170,000. The bay colt is out of Maryland Mist, by Cozzene, a half sister to five stakes winners including graded winner Foufa’s Warrior. He worked an eighth in :10 2/5 at the Under Tack Show. Hip No. 378, a Concorde’s Tune filly consigned by Ocala Stud, was sold for $155,000 to Silverton Hill, LLC.
