She Will Be Loved sells for A$2.4 millionFiled on 5 Jun 2008 @ 10:05
Australia, 5 June 2008 Hong Kong based Deborah Ho secured She Will Be Loved at the third session of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Wednesday. Bidding against Patinack Farm, Ho went to $2.4 million to secure the Group winning Strategic mare who was confirmed to be carrying a colt by super sire Redoute's Choice. "She's a really lovely mare," Ho said. "She might only be a Group Two winner, but she's a beautiful mare and is carrying a colt by Redoute's Choice. She's a good type of mare and I was really keen to buy her," Ho added. Taylor said Ho was delighted to be able to get one of her star offerings after a few close misses during the sale. "We got El Pauji earlier in the day, but we were underbidders on Litter today and Divine Madonna on the first day. She Will Be Loved will go to Coolmore Stud now and foal down her colt and she'll be booked in again to Redoute's Choice," she added. "She is a really lovely natured mare too - a real gem!" From the family of Hong Kong's Group One winning sprinter All Thrills Too, She Will Be Loved has come a long way since being purchased by Henry Plumptre for $110,000 as a yearling. On the track she scored an upset win in the Group Two Edward Manifold Stakes as a three-year-old. Her other win, also at Flemington, was registered when a two-year-old. The team from Patinack Farm bounced back from being the underbidders by buying the sensationally related mare Volted In for $920,000. A daughter of former champion sire and influential broodmare sire Rory's Jester, Volted In was the subject of major interest when the six-year-old entered the ring. Carrying a positive test to Danehill's record breaking sire son Rock of Gibraltar, Volted In was catalogued for the auction by Kitchwin Hills and catalogued as Lot 1488. A placegetter as a two-year-old Volted In is a half sister to Group One winners Drum and Anamato as well as the dams of fellow Group One winners Grand Armee and Dealer Principal. Patinack Farm director Roger Langley said his team was thrilled to be able to secure the blue blooded mare for their growing band of broodmares. "She's a really nice mare with a sensational pedigree," Langley said. "She's from one of the best families in the Stud Book. With her pedigree, she gives us great options with a number of our stallions." He said the fact the mare was carrying an September foal by Rock of Gibraltar was an added bonus. "Rock of Gibraltar is doing the job as a sire - he's got a great stakes winners to runners percentage," Langley added. "And she's got a Red Ransom and two Redoute's Choice's coming through as well. There is plenty of upside." Patinack Farm purchased a number of quality mares today including last Saturday's Eagle Farm stakes winner Litter for $860,000, the proven stakes producer Our Side Show for $250,000 and Flying Spur's stakes winning daughter Oomph for $260,000.
