Tapit colt sets record price for F-T Midlantic Breeze-UpFiled on 19 May 2009 @ 08:27
Maryland, 19 May 2009 The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic two-year-olds in training sale opened on Monday with an increase in average and a reduced buy-back rate. The average of $47,477 was 4% up on the same session last year, whilst the buy-back rate of 27.1% was down from 34.7% last year. Overall 113 lots sold from 155 offered for an aggregate of $5,364,900, some 25.6% down on last year on a smaller catalogue. Bloodstock agent Steven W. Young went to $850,000 for the session-topping colt by Tapit on behalf of an undisclosed New York buyer. The colt, part of the Hobeau dispersal, is out of the Private Account mare Shopping and is a half brother to Grade One winner Miss Shop. The sale sets a new record price for the sale - the previous record was $625,000 for Zounds in 2006. A Yonaguska half brother to Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird sold to Dogwood Stable for $425,000. Filed on 19 May 2009 @ 08:27
