Eighth of eight on debut at Newbury and described as a work in progress by his trainer, Shalaa got his act together to win a Newbury maiden a fortnight later, and stretched clear to outclass his rivals in the July Stakes, ahead of a dominant win in the Richmond Stakes last time. A 100,000 gns Tattersalls foal, he fetched 170,000 gns as a yearling and is a half brother to two winners out of the Grade Three-placed Ghurra, a 90,000 gns broodmare purchase from Shadwell in 2005 who sold again three years later, this time for 320,000 gns. The second dam, Futuh, produced nine winners in all, including Group One Middle Park winner Hayil and five other stakes performers.

The 16,000 gns Tattersalls yearling purchase is a half sister to the winner Markaz out of the Listed-placed winner Folga, a half sister to Listed winner Desert Kaya out of Group Three Prix d'Arenberg winner Desert Dawn.

This is the second Group One winner for Dark Angel after Golden Jubilee and July Cup winner Lethal Force.

A 38,000 Tattersalls foal, she fetched 220,000 gns as a yearling and is a half sister to five winners (from seven runners), including German Listed winner Athenian, out of the dual Group Three-winning Danehill Dancer mare Ziria.

Fadhayyil becomes the third stakes winner (from just 18 runners) from Tamayuz's third crop. The Derrinstown resident has 10 stakes winners in all from 131 runners, a 7.6% strike rate.

The winner of a Leopardstown maiden last July, Jim Bolger's Pleascach was off the track until returning with a second in the Listed Salsabil Stakes in April - where subsequent Pretty Polly Stakes winner Diamondsandrubies was third. She improved after that to win the Group Three Blue Wind Stakes and the Irish 1,000 Guineas. Second in the Ribblesdale after that, she was only fifth in the Pretty Polly before being freshened up before confirming her superiority here. Bred by Jim Bolger, she is the first runner out of the winning Thunder Gulch mare Toirneach, a €110,000 Keeneland yearling purchase and a half sister to winners out of a winning half sister to US Listed winner Drina, the dam of dual Grade One winner Spain and two more graded stakes winners.

Pleascach is one of seven stakes winners this season for Teofilo, and one of just two stakes winners from his fourth crop, which was covered at a career low fee of €15,000 (up to €50,000 in 2015). The Darley sire already has two stakes winners from his current crop of juveniles, from just 14 runners.

Lowther Stakes G2 - Besharah

Trained by the in-form William Haggas, Besharah scored a breakthrough maiden black type win in the Group Three Princess Margaret Stakes last time. Before that, she had won her first two starts before being placed in the Queen Mary and the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes. A 30,000 gns Tattersalls foal, she sold for 85,000 gns as a yearling and is the first foal out of an unraced Dixie Union half sister to US stakes winners Kiss Mine and Kiss Moon. The second dam, Kiss The Devil, won a Churchill Downs Grade Three and is out of a half sister to Santa Anita Grade One winner Nell's Briquette.

Besharah is one of three juvenile stakes winners this season for Kodiac, who is second to Dark Angel on the table of leading sires of juveniles. The Tally-Ho sire is also excelling with his older horses, with Adaay and Coulsty finishing first and second in the Hungerford Stakes at the weekend.

Prix Pelleas L - Meteoric

He is the first foal out of the winning Tiger Hill mare Lake Moon, a half sister to Group Three winners Cap O'Rushes and Splendid Era out of Group One Oaks di'Italia winner Valley Of Gold. The third dam is a Listed-placed half sister to Group Two Prix de Pomone winner Whitehaven, out of triple Grade One winner (including the Kentucky Oaks) White Star Line.

This is the fifth stakes winner of the season for Lope De Vega, and the eighth from his first crop, a 10% strike rate. His six yearlings sold so far have averaged £111,000 and he is a close second to Siyouni on the second crop sires table.
