Star Stakes L - Alonsoa

The Henry Candy-trained Alonsoa is unbeaten in two starts, having won a Newbury maiden on debut last time. She is a half sister to dual Group Three winner Alanza out of Listed Dick Hern Fillies' Stakes winner Alasha (Barathea), also second in the Grade One EP Taylor Stakes and third in the 1000 Guineas and who was sold by the Aga Khan for €260,000 at Goffs in 2011. She in turn is a half sister to Listed winner Alaiyma, out of a winning half sister to Group winners Altayan and Altashar, from the family of Aliysa and Alandi.

This is the second juvenile stakes winner (from just nine 2yo runners) of the season for Raven's Pass, the other being the impressive Chesham winner Richard Pankhurst.

A €55,000 Goffs foal, he sold for €280,000 at last year's Orby sale. He is a half brother to two winners out of the Danehill mare Sahara Sky, a half sister to July Cup winner Owington and the dam of Group Three winner Miss Anabaa.

This is the second stakes winner for Rip Van Winkle, the other also being a Group Three winner in I Am Beautiful. The Coolmore resident has six winners from 20 runners so far and moves to fifth on the first crop sires table.

Amralah becomes the 10th stakes winner from Teofilo's second crop, a 10% strike rate (his first crop attained a 12% stakes winning strike rate). The Darley sire has a number of notable runners this week, with Arod enjoying a confidence boosting win at Leicester and Tarfasha going for Group One glory in the Irish Oaks later today.
