This is the first stakes winner of the season for Medicean, and the first from his 2010 crop. The 16yo stands at Cheveley Park Stud at £10,000 alongside his son Dutch Art, who commands a fee of £18,000, up from £5,000 in 2011. That seems justified - looking just at the pair's 2010 crops, Medicean has 22 winners at a 38% strike rate and earnings of £374,187 for a crop AEI of 0.9. Dutch Art has 26 winners at a 46% strike rate and earnings of £494,545, giving a crop AEI of 1.2.
