Strong trade as day three posts increased average
A very satisfactory Goffs Orby Sale for vendors and purchasers alike drew to a close on Thursday with a strong final day's trade that saw an increase in average price of 27% over the equivalent Sportsman's Sale last year. Figures held up well for the entire three day sale resulting in a median increase and an impressive 82% clearance rate.

Median rises at stronger than expected sale
John Ferguson and Joe Osborne of Darley led the way on a lively second session of Goffs Orby Sale that saw the median price increase by 11% on last year, with purchases including the day's top lot, a regally bred Pivotal colt (Lot 282) offered by Moyglare Stud. From the immediate family of a host of Group winners including Irresistible Jewel, Profound Beauty and Gladness Stakes winner Mad About You, he was bought for €320,000.

Yearling sale trade holds up well in new format
The Goffs Orby Sale opened on Tuesday with trade holding up reasonably throughout the day. Overall, 157 lots sold from 192 offered for an aggregate of €11,151,000. The average price was €71,025 and the median was €50,000. No direct comparisons with last year's Million Sale are possible at this stage, but the average for lat year's entire sale was €72,652.
