Filed on 23 Oct 2008 @ 08:44

Trade picks up in final session at Doncaster

Filed on 23 Oct 2008 @ 08:38

The six year old ALFIE FLITS topped the DBS October Sales when he was knocked down to trainer Jennie Candlish for 95,000. The son of MACHIAVELLIAN was consigned by Thorndale Stables and was a multiple Listed winner and Group placed on the flat before finishing a close fourth over hurdles at Cheltenham just four days before the sale. Gary Flitcroft, the former Blackburn footballer, showed plenty of interest for the gelding, but he was outbid by Candish, who is likely to campaign him over obstacles.

Equipe De Nuit tops first HIT session at Doncaster

Filed on 21 Oct 2008 @ 20:10

Equipe De Nuit topped the first day of Horses-in-Training at the DBS October Sales when selling to Nicola McLeay for £42,000. The two year old son of Sulamani had been trained by Paul D'Arcy when placed second on both of his starts this year and was just over a length behind the subsequent Group winning Ashram on his most recent start at Newmarket. He had shown smart form in his first year on the racecourse and his pedigree suggests that he will improve with age, making him an exciting prospect for his new connections. There was plenty of interest for the colt from a number of different parties, but it was Guy Stephenson who showed a determined bid before the hammer came down in favour of Miss McLeay, whose father David Barron trains near Thirsk.
