A son of Rock Of Gibraltar topped the fourth session of Goffs November Foal Sale when Paul Shanahan outbid Dermot Weld to secure the half brother to Group Three Molecomb Stakes winner Tournedos for €240,000. The property of Mr. Pat Grogan, the colt (Lot 1040) was consigned by Heidi Shanahan’s Blakestown Stud and the sale price certainly justified the vendor’s confidence in the foal as she described him as “the best we’ve ever had�.

Trade moved up a gear on the third day of Goffs November Foal Sale, the highlight of which was Lot 793 from Ringfort Stud, a son of Kings Stand Stakes winner Chineur. The good looking good moving colt was knocked down to Tally Ho Stud for €100,000.

Kentucky, 19 November 2007 A stallion prospect by A.P. Indy brought a top price of $80,000 during Sunday’s next-to-last session of Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale. Dr. Oscar Benavides, as agent, bought Counselled, a three-year-old by A.P.Indy out of champion Countess Diana, by Deerhound. Cardinal Stables sold the dark bay or brown colt who has won two races and $36,040.

Foal from first crop of Trade Fair tops proceedingsThe five day Goffs November Foal Sale opened on Sunday. A colt from the first crop of Dual Group Three winner Trade Fair (Lot 189) capped trade on a day which saw the average foal price increase by 6% on the corresponding day in 2006. Out of a Listed winning dam, the Cooneen Stud-consigned foal was knocked down to Bobby O’Ryan for €50,000.

Kentucky, 18 November 2007 Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale posted major increases in gross, average and median during Saturday’s session. Auctioneers sold 202 horses Saturday for $2,143,900, up 73.4 percent from $1,236,100 for 161 horses during the corresponding session last year. The average of $10,613 increased 38.2 percent from $7,678 in 2006 and the median was up 37 percent to $6,850 from $5,000 last year.

The Tattersalls Ireland November NH Slae continued with the first of two sessions of mares on Saturday. Lot 3170, Karello Bay from Robert and Jackie Chugg's Little Lodge Farm, in foal to Presenting, set a new world record for a NH in-foal broodmare when Richard Aston, bidding for English client Patrick Burling, outstayed Godfrey Deacon and finished the bidding at €270,000. Deacon was not to be outdone later on and landed lot 3176, Restless Dreams, in foal to Definite Article for €90,000.

Kentucky, 17 November 2007 Keeneland realized double-digit growth in gross, average and median during Friday’s session of the November Breeding Stock Sale. Keeneland sold 230 horses for gross receipts of $3,935,400, up 32.3 percent from 2006 when 226 horses brought $2,974,100. Average price of $17,110 increased 30 percent over last year’s $13,160. The median of $11,250 rose 40.6 percent from $8,000 in 2006.

Artic Tack Stud and their resident stallion Heron Island were responsible for the two top lots at €105,000 and €80,000 respectively, and both were bought by John O'Byrne. The former, lot 2561, is a full brother to Grade Two bumper winner Crocodiles Rock from the same family at Spirit Leader, while the latter, lot 2566 is out of a half sister to leading flat stayer Orchestra Stall, and a half brother to Francois Doumen's promising Grand Bleu, a Derby Sale purchase in 2006 who is already a black type hurdle winner.
