Hip No. 907, Scarlet Starlet, a filly by Congrats consigned by Abbie Road Farm (Lisa McGreevy), Agent, went to Vinery Stables for $38,000 to top the third and final Open session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2009 August Yearling Sale. The dark bay or brown filly is out of Red Hot Star, by Tabasco Cat, a daughter of stakes winner Airistar.

Average declines 22% at DBS yearling sale

The DBS St Leger Yearling Sales came to a conclusion on Wednesday when a clearance rate of 79% saw 369 horses sell for a total of £9,609,500 at an average of £26,042. The average was 22% down on 2008, and the median declined by 23%.

Average declines 19% in steady day's trade

The first day of the DBS St Leger Yearling Sales 2009 saw steady trade throughout the day that resulted in a clearance rate of 82% and a top price of £120,000. The aggregate was £5,368,500 and the average price was £27,960 for the 233 horses offered. There is no direct comparison with last year's sale,w hich was held over three days rather than two, but Tuesday's average was 19% down on the 2008 sale average.
