Bertolini gelding on top in World TrophyFiled on 20 Sep 2008 @ 15:02
Moorhouse Lad wins Group Three World TrophyThe Bryan Smart-trained Moorhouse Lad (Bertolini - Record Time, by Clantime) was an improving type last season, to the extent that he beat Enticing to win the Group Three Audi Stakes at Goodwood last year on only his second start in Group company. He hadn't showed that level of form since, though hints of an improvement came in his last two starts, in the Nunthorpe and the Scarborugh Stakes last time, until winning the Group Three Dubai Duty Free 25th Anniversary World Trophy at Newbury on Saturday. The five-year-old raced prominently throughout and took the spoils when running on strongly as long-time leader Look Busy faded in the final furlong. Wi Dud was second and Toms Laughter third. The win gave jockey Jim Crowley a Group race double after Lord Shanakill had won the earlier Mill Reef Stakes. Filed on 20 Sep 2008 @ 15:02
