A Watership Down Stud homebred, Dar Re Mi is a half sister to Group One QEII Cup winner River Dancer (formerly Diaghilev, by Sadler's Wells), multiple stakes winner Dariyoun (Shahrastani) and Australian Group One winner Darazari (Sadler's Wells). The dam Darara won the Group One Prix Vermeille and is a half sister to champion three-year-old and sire Darshaan. Consigned to the 1994 Tattersalls December Sale by the Aga Khan, she was acquired as a foundation mare by Watership Down Stud for 470,000 gns.
