The brilliant run of sales success being enjoyed by Coolmore’s Fastnet Rock continued at Oaklands today when a colt made $225,000 at the opening weanling session of the Inglis Great Southern Sale.

The colt, from the US winning Alysheba mare Crazy Fling, who in turn is a daughter of the dual Grade One winner Some Romance (Fappiano), was offered by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds and purchased by Victoria’s DHK Investments.

The Fastnet Rock colt was the highlight on a solid opening day, where 130 weanlings changed hands for a gross of $1,550,000 at an average of $11,923.

Blue Gum Farm’s Elvstroem was also in demand, providing three of the top five lots, including Little Plains Stud’s bay filly from the Hurricane Sky mare Crystal Sprite, which sold to Tim Stewart & Associates (NSW) for $80,000.

Stewart who took a real shine to the Elvstroem weanlings, also paid $50,000 for two other fillies by Danehill’s globetrotting multiple Group 1 winner.

The session also saw the first weanlings by Redoute’s Choice’s stunning Caulfield Guineas winner God’s Own offered for sale, with a bay colt from the Zabeel mare Zadonna making $60,000, also to the bid of DHK Investments.

The sale continues tomorrow from 11am with the second and final session of weanlings, before the Broodmare section begins on Sunday.
