1000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes winner to take on colts and elders

Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum's brilliant three-year-old filly Ghanaati is to have her next start in the Group One Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in preference to the Group One Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket next week.

Whilst the Falmouth Stakes is restricted to fillies and mares, running in the Sussex Stakes will see Ghanaati take on her elders and colts for the first time in the one mile contest last won by a filly in 2004, when Soviet Song took the race.

Angus Gold, Sheikh Hamdan's racing manager, told the Racing Post: "Ghanaati has come out her race in the Coronation Stakes well and, at the moment, all being well, will go for the Sussex Stakes.

"Sheikh Hamdan wants to take on the colts and prefers to run her in the Sussex Stakes, rather than in the Falmouth."
