Remarkable performer dies foaling

Belle Du Jour (Dehere - Delightful Belle, by Balmerino) winner of the Group One Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill in 2000, has died whilst foaling.

Belle Du Jour was sensational in the premier two-year-old race after she missed the start, yet managed to
claim victory by a nose on the line. She was in training until 2003, latterly with Dermot Weld in Ireland. Her last run was in the Golden Jubilee Stakes 2003 won by Choisir.

Belle Du Jour was in foal to Redoute's Choice. This was to have been her first offspring, as she had previously failed to get in foal. Unfortunately, the foal was lost as well.
