Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning had a quickfire double at Royal Ascot on Friday when Lush Lashes (Galileo - Dance For Fun, by Anabaa) won the Group One Coronation Stakes over the old mile, adding to Cuish Ghaire's win in the earlier Albany Stakes.

Well backed in to 5-1, Lush Lashes settled behind the strong early pace set by Nahoodh. As the field turned for home Lush Lashes came with her run, forging clear but forcing French raider Modern Look, who was beaten at the time, back in the field. Lush Lashes grabbed the lead, but had to contend with the challenge of Infallible, who had settled well under Jimmy Fortune and came with a thunderous run that took her to within a neck of Lush Lashes. In the final furlong and a half the winner's stamina came into play and she pulled out more, going further clear and passing the line three lengths ahead of the Gosden filly. Carribean Sunset took third. The time was fast in 1:39.23, 0.53s outside the track record set by Henrythenavigator on Tuesday.

The winner of the Goffs Million as a juvenile, Lush Lashes came back with a fast-finishing sixth to Natagora in the 1000 Guineas. An impressive winner of the Group Three Musidora Stakes at York, she failed to handle the track in the Oaks at Epsom. The Irish Oaks awaits.

Bolger said afterwards: "I've been very impressed with her but I didn't think she could win in that style. We knew after Epsom that she was going the right way but obviously I was very tempted to go for the Ribblesdale.

"But having won a Group race already, we decided to upgrade her into a Group One and she's done it very well. She had the Goffs Million won with a furlong to run and that is only seven furlongs, so she's always shown plenty of pace.

"I was a little concerned about her getting the mile and a half at Epsom but, to be fair, it was more that she didn't handle the track there. Next time it will probably be a mile and a half. There's the Irish Oaks at the Curragh."
