German Derby winner Kamsin emulates his sire Samum

This year's German Derby winner Kamsin (Samum - Kapitol, by Winged Love) beat last year's winner Adlerflug to run out a ready winner of the Group One Grosser Preis von Baden on Sunday. Group winner It's Gino was third.

This was - in a manner of speaking - the second Group One win in a week for Kamsin. He had finished second to Oriental Tiger in the Group One Preis der Sparkasse Kolnbonn last month but was promoted to winner on Thursday after the Tiger Hill colt failed a drugs test.

Kamsin's sire Samum, himself a Geman Derby and Grosser Preis von Baden winner, is emerging as one of the best sons of Monsun at stud. He stands at Gestut Karlshof and is also the sire of Group Two winners Baila Me and Scatina.
