Clive Brittain's evergreen six-year-old Kandidate (Kabool - Valleyrose, by Royal Academy) maintained his unbeaten record at Kempton, where he is 3-3, in the Listed Magnolia Stakes over 10f.

Bustled to the lead by Neil Callam, Kandidate set a fast early tempo before calming the pace heading into the back straight. Turning in, he sprinted for home but drifted towards the centre of the track in the straight, where Spice Route challenged him. Kandidate saw him off, but only had just enough in hand to see off the late flourish of Illustrious Blue, beaten only a head in second.

Diamond Tycoon, making his reappearance after 329 days off the track, disappointed when unable to quicken and finished last.
