The Aidan O'Brien-trained Listen (Sadler's Wells - Brigid, by Irish River) won the Group One Fillies' Mile at Ascot on Saturday, beating the 11-10 favourite Proviso, representing Andre Fabre and Khalid Abdulla. Jim Bolger's Saoirse Abu was third.

Proviso didin't settle for Stephane Pasquier in the early stages, but she made good progress from the rear in soft conditions. Listen, however, quickened well from fourth spot and soon went clear. She had first run on Proviso and in the conditions that proved decisive, as the French filly made little impression in the final furlong.

Aidan O'Brien told the BBC after the race: "Our two-year-olds have started to come in the last two weeks. They've been running good races, but the kick jsut wasn't there. That's come now. She's a very nice fily.

"She put her head down and quickened well. She has speed and she stays. She'll probably be put away now and will be trained for the 1000 Guineas. She's a filly to look forward to."

A Listed winner on debut, Listen was second to Campfire Glow in a Group Two and then second to Saoirse Abu in the Moyglare Stud Stakes. She has now received quotes of 8-1 for the 1000 Guineas.

Out of Brigid, Listen is a sister to Sequoyah, herself the winner of the Moyglare Stud Stakes, and the dam of Henrythenavigator.
