Lush Lashes impresses at York

The Group Three Musidora Stakes over 1m 2f at York on Wednesday saw the Jim Bolger-trained Lush Lashes (Galileo – Dance For Fun) leap to the had of the Juddmonte Oaks market after an impressive win.

The Galileo filly raced midfield under Kevin Manning, and was in fifth spot turning for home. She came with a run wide of her rivals in the long York straight, coming to join the leaders three furlongs out and still under heavy restraint. She was pushed out and responded well, going effortlessly clear of her rivals to win eased down.

Cape Amber, making her seasonal debut and only her second start, was second and runaway Sandown winner Dar Re Mi was third. Moonstone was a slightly disappointing fourth.

Lush Lashes showed impressive speed to win the Goffs Million last season. She was well beaten on heavy ground on her comeback in March, but ran impressively behind Natagora in the 1000 Guineas, finishing strongly to take sixth.

Whilst bookmakers made Lush Lashes 2-1 favourite for the Juddmonte Oaks at Epsom, it emerged that Lush Lashes could run at the Curragh instead.

Trainer Jim Bolger's travelling head lad Ger Flynn said: "The boss has just been on the phone and he says we're not going to rule anything out. At the moment the Oaks at Epsom and the Curragh are on the cards, but it will more likely be the Curragh. We won't rule the English Oaks out, we'll see how she is when we get her home.

"That is her second trip over here so we need to see how much the race has taken out of her and how many kilos she has lost. She did it very easily though and Kevin was very, very happy with her. There is a good break between now and the Irish Oaks, but Epsom is only three weeks away."
