O'Brien lands 15th Group One of the season

The Group Two Railway Stakes winner Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer - Starlight Dreams, by Black Tie Affair) made his stamina tell on Sunday when winning the Group One Phoenix Stakes over 6f at the Curragh, beating the evens favourite, Coventry Stakes winner Art Connoisseur by four and a half lengths.

The winner's stablmate Sea Of Marmara set a fast early pace, leading by six lengths or so, before Mastercraftsman eased to the lead inside the final two furlongs. Jamie Spencer had settled Art Connoisseur at the back of the field and pulled wide for a run. He made a move forward, but that flattened out a furlong from home as his stamina seemd to give out and he could make no impression on the winner, who was installed as the new Guineas favourite, displacing his stablemate Rip Van Winkle.

Listed win for Pasar Silbano

Twice a winner at Dundalk, juvenile filly Pasar Silbano (Elnadim - Give A Whistle, by Mujadil) has been well beaten on two previous tries in Listed company but, ridden confidently close to the pace throughout, she scored in the Listed Curragh Stakes, beating Call Me Alice by three quarters of a length. The favourite Silver Shoon was third, having failed to pick up.
