Natagora gallops to head of Guineas market

The Pascal Bary-trained Natagora (Divine Light - Reinamixa, by Linamix) made her seasonal reappearance in the Listed Prix Imprudence over 1400m of heavy ground at Maisons-Laffitte on Monday, and she won well, propelling herself to co-favouritism for the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in 3 weeks, where she will attempt to emulate the great Miesque in the Imprudence-Guineas double.

The winner of the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes last October and a powerful daughter of Divine Light, Natagora settled behind the pace set by Blue Cayenne before jockey Christophe Lemaire asked her to extend 300m from home. She responded well, stretching clear to win by a length and a half. Modern Look got up late on to beat the tenacious Blue Cayenne for second.

A well-pleased Pascal Bary said after the race: "Until they run, you never quite know how they have trained on from two to three. She's pulling less than she did, she's more relaxed than last year. And now it's on to Newmarket!"

Christophe Lemaire added: "Last year she was quickly away, giving me no options. But today I was able to settle behind the pace.

"She is so easy to ride and hasn't been hard pushed to win today. She has grown a lot over the winter."
