Natagora leads from start to finish in 1000 GuineasFiled on 4 May 2008 @ 14:36
Nahoodh unlucky to be denied a placeThe Pascal Bary-trained Natagora (Divine Light - Reinamixa, by Linamix), winner of the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes over six furlongs, justified favouritism to win the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday, breaking quickly and leading from beginning to end in a well-judged ride from Christophe Lemaire. In the final quarter mile challengers lined up but Natagora stuck to her task well, seeing off the Cheveley Park Stud pair of Infallible and Spacious, who took second. Jim Bolger's Saoirse Abu finished with a wet sail on the outside to take third, but the hard luck story was that of Lowther Stakes winner Nahoodh, who came with a strong run on the rail under Richard Hughes, who had to stop riding as he failed to get through a gap between the winner and the tiring Infallible.
