Pomellato wins Maurice-Lacroix Rennen

The Group Three Maurice-Lacroix Rennen for two-year-olds over 1400 metres at Baden-Baden on Friday was won by Peter Schiergen's Pomellato (Big Shuffle - Passata, by Polar Falcon), who beat nine rivals to register his first Pattern win after a three length victory on debut earlier in the month.

Andrasch Starke took the Big Shuffle colt to the lead early on and drove him home in the final furlong to deny the favourite Peace Royale by three quarters of a length. Goose Bay finished third.

Donaldson (Lando - Daytona Beach by Konigsstuhl) won the Listed Coolmore Stud Baden-Baden Cup over 2000 metres. The hot favourite beat Santiago three quarters of a length with Abacco back in third.

Donaldson and Pomatello were both bred by by Gestut Hof Ittlingen.
