Pretty Polly success for Promising LeadFiled on 28 Jun 2008 @ 16:01
First Group One for Stoute fillyJuddmonte homebred Promising Lead (Danehill - Arrive, by Kahyasi) gained her first success at Group One level when winning the Pretty Polly Stakes over 10f at the Curragh on Saturday. Mad About You was second and Anna Pavlova third. Aidan O'Brien's Ice Queen had set the pace some 10 lengths in front of the pack led by Promising Queen. In the straight the gap quickly reduced and Ryan Moore sent the Danehill filly to the lead. Dermot Weld's Mad About You went with her and the winner had to work to see off her rival, but she stretched clear to win by a length and a quarter at the line. Stoute said after the race: "She is a really big, scopey, progressive filly. She improved through last year and was only beaten a head in the Opera. She started off this season winning well in a Group Three at York and she is really coming to herself. She has done that well but could have done with a lead for longer. We'll have a look at the Nassau for her now." Filed on 28 Jun 2008 @ 16:01
