Prospect Wells continues Wertheimer form in GreffulheFiled on 12 May 2008 @ 17:57
The Group Two Prix Greffulhe over 2000m at Saint-Cloud on Monday was won by the Andre Fabre-trained Prospect Wells (Sadler's Wells - Brooklyn's Dance, by Shirley Heights). It was a third Group win in 24 hours for owner/breeders the Wertheimer brothers and jockey Olivier Peslier. With only five runners, Peslier sat off the slow early pace set by Ripple and Chirango. Chirango went for home in the straight opening up an advantage, but once Prospect Wells found his stride he ran on strongly to collar Ripples by a short neck. Trois Rois got going just too late, and had to settle for third, a further short neck down. The Prix Greffulhe is the penultimate French Derby trial, with only the Prix de Guiche at Chantilly tomorrow remaining. Prospect Wells is brother to Prospect Park, who was second in the Prix du Jockey-Club in 2004 and looks sure to follow the same route. Filed on 12 May 2008 @ 17:57
