Sholokhov filly takes Chantilly Listed prizeFiled on 16 Oct 2008 @ 13:04
The Listed Prix de Saint-Cyr over 1400m at Chantilly on Thursday was won by German raider Atalia (Sholokhov - Anna Kalinka, by Lion Cavern), who beat Verba by half a length, with a neck back to Isanous in third. This was Atalia's first Listed win, following three places at that level in Germany for trainer Mario Hofer. Ridden by Jean-Pierre Carvalho, Atalia settled behind the pace set by Christophe Soumillon on Verba, and took time to run on in the closing stages, pulling out left to challenge the tenacious Verba but getting on top close home. Jean-Pierre Carvalho told Equidia after the race: "There were plenty of runners in the race, which allowed my filly to settle - she can tend to pull. I was lucky the gap came when it did. The filly has a lot of heart, and is beginning to mature - she could go on to higher things." Filed on 16 Oct 2008 @ 13:04
