Souffleur (In The Wings - Salinova, by Linamix) ran out an impressive winner of the Grade One Challow Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday, travelling easily for Tom O'Brien at the back of the field and galloping clear after taking the lead in the straight to register a six length win over Paul Nicholls' Elusive Dream.

Souffleur was a 5,000 guineas purchase for trainer Peter Bowen and ran up a hat trick with an eye-catching victory over Hi Cloy at Aintree the best of those. Stepped up to three miles at Cheltenham last time he was a fast-finishing third, coming from a long way off the pace, but the drop back to 2 miles 5 furlongs suited hime today.

Moon Over Miami and Celstial Halo amongst earlier winners

Earlier at Newbury, Charlie Mann's Moon Over Miami put a poor run at Sandown behind him when making all to win the Bathwick Tyres Andover Novices' Chase, beating the favourite Big Buck's by half a length.

Charlie Mann said after the race: "He's done very well, as he's not a front-runner and was not doing a tap. He's won twice and run badly twice this season and I haven't a clue why.

"He's on course for the Arkle now and will have two runs before."

Seventh in the St Leger for Barry Hills was Celestial Halo, who made his hurdles debut for Paul Nicholls, having been purchased by the Stewart family.

He was an impressive winner, jumping with an excellent attitude and accelerating smoothly clear of his rivals to score by 14 lengths.

He is generally second favourite for the Triumph Hurdle behind Thursday's Chepstow winner Franchoek.
