Nayef colt lands second Group One to contine Head's good run

Freddie Head's golden summer continued at Deauville on Sunday when Prix Jean Prat winner Tamayuz (Nayef - Al Ishq, by Nureyev) ran out an impressive winner of the Group One Prix Jacques le Marois over 1600m.

Davy Bonilla settled the Nayef colt behind his pacemaker Racinger before asking him to quicken some way from home. Tamayuz responded immediately, surging clear of his opponents to win with authority.

1000 Guineas winner Natagora stayed on for an excellent second, and Major Cadeaux took third for Richard Hannon.

First stakes win for Soul City

Hannon was on the mark later when Soul City (Elusive City - Savage, by Polish Patriot) ran out a two length winner of the Listed Prix Francois Boutin, beating Criquette Head-Maarek's Denomination. Temple Lord was a further two and a half lengths down the track in third.

This was a first stakes win for Soul City, who put his previous experience to good use when winning the always-informative Strutt & Parker maiden at a soggy Newmarket July meeting. He was then fourth to the more-than-useful Orizaba in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood on his last start, and holds entries in the valuable Doncaster sales race and the Dewhurst.
