Thrilling finish to Dewhurst initiates Bolger double

The Group One Darley Dewhurst Stakes saw a tremendous battle between Teofilo (Galileo - Speirbhean, by Danehill) and Holy Roman Emperor. The pair had met before in the National Stakes at the Curragh, a bout won well by Teofilo.

Holy Roman Emperor had subsequently stepped up in winning the Grand Criterium at Longchamp.

Teofilo, racing near the stands rail, was unable to take advantage of a gap and was angled out by Kevin Manning before taking the lead.

The Jim Bolger homebred was headed by Holy Roman Emperor in the final furlong but incredibly fought back to regain the lead and prevail on the line.

Teofilo is now quoted at around 5/2 for the 2000 Guineas and 4/1 for the Derby.

Finsceal Beo adds to Bolger success

The Group Two Rockfel Stakes gave Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning another Group win within 35 minutes when Finsceal Beo followed up her victory in the Prix Marcel Boussac with an easy Newmarket victory.

Always prominent, she was shaken up two furlongs out and burst clear to beat Rahiyah and Puggy, second and third. She is now as short as 5/2 in places for the 1000 Guineas.
