German Listed winner steps up to Group One class

Baron Georg von Ullmann's eight year old Toylsome (Cadeaux Genereux - Treasure Trove, by The Minstrel) was an impressive winner of the Group One Prix de la Foret over seven furlongs at Longchamp on Saturday, stepping up from Listed class where he has been a formidable performer.

Drawn 13 of 13, he used plenty in the early stages as Stephane Pasquier brough him to the lead on the rail. The more fancied runners US Ranger and Tariq were well back in the field, and Toylsome was allowed to dictate terms up front.

Pasquier quickened in the straight and soon had a five length lead, which none of the chasing pack was able to close. Welsh Emperor had been prominent throughout and finished second, and US Ranger and Marchand D'Or shared a photograph for third.

Toylsome was landing a hat-trick, having won two Listed contests in Germany in September. Before that he finished fourth in the Jaques le Marois, where he had been a pacemaker for Manduro.

Coastal Path lands Chaudenay

The Group Two Prix Chaudenay was won by Coastal Path (Halling - Coraline, by Sadler's Wells) for Andre Fabre, who saddled the first four home.

Patiently ridden by Stephane Pasquier in the Khalid Abdulla colours, Coastal Path had only to be pushed out to register an easy success.

Coastal Path has now won four from four, including the Group Three Prix de Lutece last time.
