Youmzain scores Group One winFiled on 29 Jun 2008 @ 15:16
The Mick Channon-trained five-year-old Youmzain (Sinndar - Sadima, by Sadler's Wells), who has finished second to the likes of Rail Link, Dylan Thomas and Soldier Of Fortune in his career, finally claimed a second Group One win in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud over 2400m on Sunday. The Sinndar horse had won the Group One Preis von Europa two years ago but hadn't won since. Youmzain settled mid division behind the early pace set by Sommertag and Song Of Hiawatha. In the straight Youmzain and Soldier Of Fortune, his conqueror in the Coronation Cup earlier this month, came to prominence and, once a gap appeared 400m out, Youmzain took advantage and went to the front. Once clear he surged away from his rivals and soon had enough in hand to see off the closing Soldier Of Fortune by a length at the line. Doctor Dino was third, but Getaway proved a disappointment in fifth. Filed on 29 Jun 2008 @ 15:16
