Third individual Group One winner of season for Zamindar

The Aga Khan's homebred Zarkava (Zamindar - Zarkasha, by Kahyasi) flew home from an unpromising position to land the spoils in style in the Group One Prix Marcel Boussac over a mile at Longchamp.

Conference Call was second and Mad About You third, the pair having led the ten runners - reduced by one after Gipson Dessert burst out of the stalls - but Zarkava was the only filly to make ground from the rear. She came with a run on the rail for Christophe Soumillon and had to be snatched up, but once switched wide she quickened impressively to win by two and a half lengths going away, despite hurdling the shadow of the winning post.

Godolphin's Laureldean Gale was disappointing, failing to settle early on and not quickening form seventh place.

Zarkava has only raced once before today, winning a race for unraced fillies over course and distance a month ago. After putting in an outstanding piece of work last Tuesday she was supplemented for the race by trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre, and must now be considered a leading fancy for the Guineas or the Oaks.

The owner's daughter, Princess Zahra Aga Khan, said: "She really showed what she has been showing at home, she is a really strong, capable filly.

"She did an amazing piece of work last Tuesday where she really stood out from the crowd, so we decided we would let her take her chance.

"By her breeding she could be aimed at either the Guineas or the Oaks. It is a question of time as to what her distance is and it will be very much up to her trainer as to what route we take."
